How the adviser works

What it does
When you ask a question, the adviser is given the full text of every rule document currently in force for your organisation — your club's, your association's, and the Laws of Cricket above them. It reads all of it, every time. It does not search or summarise first.
It then answers from those documents, quoting the passages it relied on and naming the document, the edition and the body that issued it, so you can check its working.
Where two documents cover the same point, the closer body governs. Where your association has published a ruling on the question, that ruling outranks the adviser's own reading of the documents, and it will tell you so.
What it does not do
It does not know anything that is not in your documents. If they don't answer your question, it will say so rather than guess.
It does not check its own quotes. The passages it shows you are reproduced by a language model, and a model can misquote. If a quote matters, open the document.
It is not a ruling. Answers are guidance. Your association's ruling is final, and if a decision matters — a result, an eligibility question, a suspension — escalate it rather than relying on what you read here.
How it is built
Answers are generated by Google's Gemini model, reached through Lovable's AI gateway. The adviser is given your question, your selected grade and format, and your documents.
