About Bylaw and Order

Bylaw and Order is a small Australian product team. We build one thing: a rules engine that lets the people running sport find, apply and defend their own written rules.

It started with a real problem rather than a market study. In a single cricket competition, the same questions came up every weekend — eligibility, wet weather, forfeits, finals qualification — and the answers depended on three layers of documents that almost nobody had read end to end. The rules existed. Getting to them, in time, in a form you could stand behind, did not.

We are deliberately not building a chatbot with a sports theme. The product treats the rulebook as the authority: it reads the documents in force, quotes them, and hands the hard cases to the association rather than inventing a ruling. That discipline is what makes it usable by a governing body.
